Modcloth dress, Birkenstock sandals, Kate Spade & Nordstrom rings, Target earrings, Revlon ColorBurst matte balm in “Unapologetic,” Sally Hansen “Fairyteal” nail polish

I wore this to my soon-to-be cousin’s wedding shower. My mom’s cousin, who is a total dream, by the way, told me that I had “Rapunzel hair.” I’ll take it, especially coming from her! As far as the Birks go, they were definitely an afterthought. The shower was at my grandma’s house, so I knew I’d end up barefoot anyway.

The Babysitter’s Club

Thrifted jacket & dress, Target belt, Born oxfords

My bff described this dress as a Babysitter’s Club dress when we came across it, which it totally is. (She also managed to direct me to this post today, while I was wearing it! I kind of love the idea of painstakingly summarizing every outfit on every cover, but much like Huxtable Hotness, I find that whoever wrote this is very narrow minded and makes no allowance for time period. I mean, number 125, for example. Major win!) But back to this dress. I also imagine that it’s something that would be worn by Jamie Gonzalez from La Catrina, if you were as lucky as I was to get to watch that in high school Spanish class. I’m a fan, though. I mean, it’s a good ’90s dress. What more could I ask from it?

Feels Like Summer

Thrifted top, Gap jeans, Kate Spade necklace, vintage loafers, Revlon “Fire & Ice” lipstick

When my bff and I saw this shirt in a thrift store, we both fell for it instantly. I thought it would be great with a black, full skirt. It just seemed to my imagination that it’s what one would wear in France in the ’50s. I tried it with said skirt, but it didn’t work out like I’d envisioned in my mind. Once I actually put it on, I realized that it kind of reminds me of an old man’s pajamas or maybe a baseball uniform. I don’t know. It’s the softest thing in the world, though, and I kind of like it with this necklace.

Take Me on a Boat

Target shirt, thrifted skirt, Gap sunglasses, Nordstrom oxfords

Lately I’ve been finding lots of good pencil  skirts at thrift stores. It’s such a classic silhouette, so I guess it makes sense that thrift stores are full of them. It’s a perfect shade of pale pink and was just too good to pass up. I’m feeling very 90s Ralph Lauren in this. I can see this outfit in an add involving a yacht—at least in my mind.

Coconut Girl

Thrifted dress, Target jacket & belt, Anthropologie headband, Sole Society shoes

Here we have another thrifted dress. Without the belt, it looks like I’m wearing Maile’s (from Blue Hawaii) jammies. I don’t mind that, however. It’s pretty perfect for these warm days, and we all know I’d rather be Maile in Blue Hawaii than just about anyone these days.

Foolproof

Forever 21 sweater, T.J. Maxx shirt, Gap jeans, vintage loafers, Maybelline “Coral Crush” lipstick

I feel like if I were to have a cool-weather uniform, this would be it as of late. Skinny jeans with a blouse and a sweater and loafers/oxfords. It’s just so foolproof.

Day Dreaming

Forever 21 coat, Modcloth blouse & skirt, Nordstrom oxfords, Kate Spade earrings, Maybelline “Coral Crush lipstick

There are a few places I’d love, love, love to go, like Lisbon, Portugal, Savannah, Georgia, Sweden, Barcelona, South Africa, and every Hawaiian island. Among these are Paris and Cannes, or anywhere in the Riviera for that matter. Ever since I saw Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief (I was going through a major Cary Grant phase at the time), I was like “that’s where I want to be.” Anyway, I’m currently reading Therese Anne Fowler’s Z, which is about Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. It’s making me think quite ill of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, and I sincerely hope that Fowler doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Anyway, they spent a lot of time in Paris and the Riviera, and this is what I imagine Zelda and the other women wearing. I realize that this is absurd, and that this is closer to what women would have worn in the ’50s (at least regarding the silhouette). Sometimes, however, the imagination cannot be helped. I fancy that if I ever were to go to France, this is just what I would wear.

San Antonio

Modcloth dress, thrifted jacket, Gap sunglasses, Birkenstock sandals

Last week I got to go to San Antonio with my parents. When they asked me if I wanted to go, I thought “What the hey? Sure.” I’d never been to Texas, and one of my goals is to go more places that I haven’t gone. I had no idea how much I was going to like it. It’s such a beautiful city. The River Walk is so pretty, and all of that limestone! It reminded me of Jerusalem (which is basically solid limestone. I swear, there is no dirt or grass or anything in Jerusalem. Just limestone).This limestone, however, is sculpted into Spanish-style architecture, and it’s just so cool. The landscape is so rugged and everything that comes to mind with the notion of the American Southwest. The weather was so nice; we only have one rainy morning (pictured above), but the sun did indeed come out and we enjoyed days in the high 80s—my favorite kind of days. This dress is a perfect sundress. Light and pretty, but a little loose! Other times I’ve worn it here and here.

                     {The best kind of decadence at Marti’s}

            {I wanted this beautiful velvet and lace dress so bad}

               {All of the dreamy houses on King William Street}

                    {Remember the Alamo! Such a cool place}

Ahoy

Old Navy sweatshirt, Talbots pants, Birkenstock sandals, Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lipbalm in “Unapologetic”

Well, here are the pants that I got during the shopping trip of the aforementioned post. They’re definitely mom pants, but I can’t help liking them. My bestie and I got these sweaters on Saturday. How could we say no to a sweater that allows/causes us to continually quote What About Bob?

Peacocking

Thrifted dress, vintage necklace, BCBG Max Azria belt, Sole Society heels

I haven’t worn this dress since last June. My bestie got it for me, and my first thought was something like “Ay caramba,” but it really is quite glamorous, I think. If I ever got to go to fashion week, I’d probably wear it amongst the peacocks hoping to get photographed for a street style blog. I love the print, which reminds me of Hawai’i, and the shape is so ladylike.
