Target top, Talbots shorts, Birkenstock sandals, Gap sunglasses

The morning after my cousin’s wedding, we got breakfast and went to the lake to look around before heading back down into the Valley. We were only able to stay for a short while, but I really want to go back!

Summer Wedding in the Mountains

{The happy couple arriving at the reception in a horse-drawn carriage}

                 {My darling niece having a wonderful time}

Vintage dress, Seychelles shoes

My cousin got married yesterday, and the wedding and reception were held at a camp outside of Fresno. Since it was about a three hour drive, we ended up staying overnight in one of the camp’s cabins. Camps tend of have such an aesthetic dreaminess (i.e.The Parent Trap). This dress, last worn here, continues to be a favorite of mine, and it was the perfect thing to wear to a wedding in the mountains.

The Hawaiian Print that Just Won’t Quit

Nordstrom Rack top, vintage shorts, Gap sunglasses, Born sandals

That would be this shirt right here. I really like how it goes with the gingham shorts. The sandals are pretty horrible, but I can’t help liking them too. A couple of years ago I was dying for a pair of flatforms, but I frustratingly could not find any in my size. When I saw these at my local T.J. Maxx, I thought they were close enough. Kind of grandma-ish but also kind of great (and ridiculously comfortable).

Summer Days

J Crew sequin top, thrifted skirt, Born oxfords, Maybelline Color Whisper in “Coral Ambition”

I wore this outfit last week to do a little shopping with my bestie for a luau we’re throwing. She also got me this skirt, which I kind of love. It reminds me of exactly what my mom wore whilst raising my siblings and me in the ’90s (minus the heavy flower print).

Forever 21 top, vintage shorts, Target earrings, Kate Spade purse, Gap sunglasses, Born sandals

Summer clothes can be a bit boring. We’re just coming out of almost two weeks of 100+ degree days, and I’ve been wearing shorts and cotton tops. The heat does seem to be breaking, though, and I’m starting to think about polyester again, like this mustard beauty with the best frilly sleeves.

What This Is Called?

Vintage top & pants, Sole Society shoes

A friend of my mom’s gave me this outfit about a month ago. She said that she “can’t wear these kinds of things anymore” and thought that I’d appreciate it, which I so do. I love the buttons and its bright shade of iridescent pink. Anyone knowledgeable in Asian clothing know what exactly it is? The tag says “Alice California,” and it reminds me of the chic Asian girls at cocktail parties in films from the ’50s and ’60s.

Summer Sunday

J Crew top, Gap pants & sunglasses, Seychelles shoes

Summer really is the best season. It’s full of barbecues and swimming and s’mores and lots of living outside. Sundays are a big family ordeal around here, and for Father’s Day we barbecued with extended family. My niece was also dedicated at church, so it was a special day. We had a big barbecue lunch after church, to which a new friend brought cornhole. We swam and played with my nieces, and it was just a typical, perfect summer Sunday.

Pink Party Dress

Vintage dress & coral ring, Sole Society shoes, Nordstrom Rack flower ring, Maybelline “Coral Crush” lipstick

On Saturday, my cousin got married, and I decided to wear this vintage dress for the first time. I bought this dress on Etsy one afternoon on a whim. It was on sale, and I wasn’t sure if it would fit or not, but I bought it. I thought it was going to be more of a ’50s party dress (think Grace Kelly), but it ended up being more of an ’80s piece (think ’80s prom queen, right?) I still really like it. It’s one of my absolute most favorite colors, and at the wedding, my sister informed me that the bodice is a Baroness Schraeder dress. Win.

Park City

We spent a week in Park City, and I think I could stay there all summer (if it wasn’t so darn dry! I thought we had a dry climate in California. I was so, so wrong). Regardless, I think I liked Park City as much as Maui. It was that great. Waking up to those beautiful green mountains every morning was just so amazing. We went to the Olympic Park, which was awesome. I get ridiculously excited about the Olympics, so I obviously geeked out about getting to get to see where a lot of winter Olympians train and competed in 2002. There are endless beautiful hikes and bike trails (and of course skiing in the winter). I’ve come to the conclusion that Utah is completely underrated.
