Thrifted denim jacket, Stylemint tee, Modcloth skirt, Born oxfords, Forever 21 belt
This skirt is definitely making the rounds these days. What’s more versatile than a full, black skirt? I basically wore this same outfit last fall, and I think it bears repeating. Today I had a first grader tell me “You dress old school with the bow and the earrings. I like it!” I’ll always want to wear bows in my hair, and I’ll always want to wear my pearls every so often. The bow is actually from my bestie’s wedding. Her sister made them for all of the bridesmaids. But really, I think I’ll always find myself leaning towards classic silhouettes and “old school” sensibilities.

T.J. Maxx dress (worn as a top), Modcloth skirt, Target loafers
My best friend got married this weekend, and this is what I wore to her family dinner the night before the wedding. We had found this mint dress the day before while shopping together, and I could not pass it up! It’s such a sweet dress that looks almost vintage. It’s a little short for my taste, so I decided to throw this full, twirly skirt over the top.

There was a sprinkler on the lawn, so naturally I had to take outfit pictures in front of it! This dress seems ideal for a picnic, so I guess sprinklers on the lawn is the next best thing. I’m so looking forward to summer being here.

Target shirt, Anthropologie pants & wedges, headband (gift)
I’ve been studying really hard for my comprehensive exams the last few weeks, and my sister snapped these pictures right as we were headed out the door to my friend’s bridal shower. It was a garden theme, so floral pants seemed appropriate.

My bff bought these pants for me in Germany. I love the mix of mod, floral prints. They’re kind of outrageous, and I decided to pair them with my most outrageous cardigan. I mean, why not? Solid sequins? Loads of jewelry? So good. More is more!

Thrifted denim jacket (Goodwill), Modcloth dress, Born oxfords, Silver Lining Decor necklace
I really like this pink dress. It’s one of my favorite colors to wear, and I love the fabric. It’s so subtly shiny, and I love the nod to the ’60s in the loose babydoll shape.

I got a smog screening for my car today, and the mechanic told me that I looked “like a fairy tale princess.” That was enough to make my day. After looking through these pictures, though, I think I look like I belong in The Grapes of Wrath. I think it’s the shirt and the silhouette that makes me feel that way, although the tractor doesn’t exactly detract from the Dust Bowl-esque feel, either. I think I love Steinbeck as much as I love fairy tales. Again, I’ll take either.

Anthropologie dress, wedges, & bracelet, Kate Spade & vintage rings, Revlon “Orange Flip” lipstick
Spring is here to stay, and I’m loving being able to wear pretty sundresses. I’m especially charmed by this dress. I love the retro feel, bright coral color, and back detail. I’m also pretty into this bracelet. It kind of reminds me of art deco, and then it also kind of reminds me of Star Wars. I can appreciate both.

Vintage blouse, Cynthia Rowley tank (via T.J. Maxx), Anthropologie jeans, Born oxfords
I’d like to start off by saying that windy afternoons are not my favorite. I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie, and the episode “Country Girls” in the beginning of the series is priceless, mainly for the fact that Nellie calls Mary and Laura “country girls” in a completely hilario voice. After putting together this outfit, I looked at myself in the mirror and said “Country girls” a la Nellie Oleson. I felt that it warranted it for some reason or another. Maybe it’s because I feel like this would be an ideal horseback riding outfit.
Also, if you’re a Little House on the Prairie fan, you might want to do a quick tumblr search for “nellie oleson.” It’s pretty great.
