Red Lipstick is a Neutral
That’s what I used to justify my outfit to my sister this morning. She had expressed that there were too many colors in this outfit. Purple and green always go together, right? And, as far as I’m concerned, red lipstick is a neutral here.

Bag Lady Foreva
Plaid and chevrons, I will love you forever. I will also be an unapologetic bag lady forever. I really don’t know what else to say. I love the length of this sweater. It’s the kind of sweater that’s bulky and that I accidentally shut in my car door. (Totally happened twice today). It’s perfect for supervising high schoolers and starting a new semester of grad school...
Daniel
My dear dog Daniel passed away in August. I haven’t mentioned it here because it seems too depressing to write about. He went outside one morning and just never came back, so it’s difficult to have any sense of closure when it was so sudden, when he wasn’t sick, when there was no warning that one day would be the last time I’d ever see him, when he was just gone.
Anyway,...

Teacher
These pictures were taken after a day of teaching first graders. Very rowdy first graders. I think you can tell that I’m happy that the day is over in these pictures. Usually, I pair this dress with a long sleeved t-shirt in the winter, but I decided to go with something a little more interesting than a black tee, by wearing this button up that I never wear. (Remember how I’m...

Tumbleweeds, Bomber Jackets, and a Muddy Dog
Yes, that’s a tumbleweed. Also, let’s pretend my stomach isn’t showing.

Dental Care
Today I:
went to the dentist
thought it was the first day of school
double checked the time of my first class to find that:
school doesn’t start for three more days
at least one person dropped from the class I was trying to get into,
and that I am now officially in the class. Awesome.
In other news, I decided to pair these red pants with something other than denim, black,...

Ladylike
Sunday was a rainy day, and I ended up taking outfit pics in my bathroom. The skirt is a light green color, and I like the way that it works with the fuchsia belt. I also like the tights’ chevrons with the houndstooth of the jacket. Something (maybe everything) about this outfit seems so ladylike to me, and I like that. It’s a perfect outfit for brightening a rainy way.

All I Want to Wear
I wore this outfit last week on a super cold and windy day. The weather inspired me to wear this ultra cozy sweater combination. I like a pink flat with blues and grays, and this huge, bulky, slouchy sweater is the best thing of my life. It’s kind of all I want to wear these days.

Pearls in the Morning
I wore this outfit to church Sunday morning. It reminded me of something I once read that spoke of the “horror” of women wearing pearls in the morning. The gray and white work so well with the silver and pearls. Here’s to not following style “rules.”

Another Fave
Lately, I’ve been going back to old favorites. This skirt is another favorite. I like that I can wear it every season, and this time, I tried to tie in all of the colors of the skirt to the rest of the outfit. The tights also have a great plaid pattern, and I love the little ruffles on the sweater. So once again, I’m incorporating all of my favorite aspects of an...

An Old Favorite
This sweater dress is a favorite favorite favorite with me. It’s so comfortable and just feels right. I love the clean chevrons and the combination of black and white. I usually wear this dress with simple black tights, but today, I wanted a little more color. I also haven’t worn these tights in quite some time, and this dress provided the perfect opportunity for doing so.

Christmas Sweater After Christmas
Last week, when I wore this outfit, I had actually put this outfit together. That day, the weather was far too warm to wear the sweater and socks, so I opted for a minimalistic approach. I’m in love with these socks, by the way. I love that they’re navy and that they have little flecks of color in them. (No, that’s not lint, in case you were wondering).
On another...

Modern Maria
My bff sent me this wonderful jacket from Germany for Christmas. It’s totally a Maria von Trapp jacket, and I’m kind of in love with it. I especially love it paired with the mod-ish dress and plenty of sparkly jewelry.

Soak Up Plenty of Sun
Lately, it’s been incredibly warm and sunny. It truly feels like spring. Here we have another outfit that I (basically) wore in high school. Not the most incredibly fashionable outfit, but it makes me feel good nonetheless. Perfect for a day of laundry, cleaning, and errands.

The Minimalist
There’s something lacking about this outfit. Maybe my bangs are too long, or maybe the weather is much too warm for early January (62 degrees, what?!). It’s nice to embrace minimalism, but there’s something missing. I can’t put my finger on it, though. Perhaps a wider belt?

Take It All Down
I was listening to this song today as I took down Christmas decorations and rearranged my closet so that I can make sure that I wear absolutely everything in it at least one time this year. My sister found (on pinterest, where else?) this genius idea of turning all of your hangers one direction, and then once you wear an article of clothing, turning that hanger the opposite direction. Then...

New Year's Day
As a rule, I think that people should always dress cozily and comfortably on New Year’s Day. No tight jeans, no fussy elements. Instead, I believe in wearing oversized (bag lady, if you will) sweaters and leggings, which is exactly what I’m wearing. Throw your hair in a bun. No muss, no fuss.
Anyway, this sweater is a Christmas present, and I absolutely adore it. My siblings...

Parts of the New Year Brought Down by Gravity...
I wore this outfit on New Year’s Eve. My family and I went to a family friend’s house for a casual party. No festive frock for me, but I couldn’t not wear this wonderful cardigan. It’s covered in sequins and beads, and I love it. What could be more appropriate for New Year’s? Nothing.
