Happy Birthday!
This is my brother, John. Today is his nineteenth birthday. You might be saying to yourself right about now, “Wow, what an affable young man.” And you’d be right in saying so. Watch closely, though, to how things escalate in the following pictures. He’s not having any of it. One fact about John: he went through a phase of defacing everything in sight with smiley...

Why Not?
I’m not much of a blazer girl. Though I went through a blazer phase in high school, I rarely wear them now, as I lean more towards cardigans. In fact, I think this blazer is the only one I own these days. This one’s a hand-me-down from my sis, and I’ve always liked the navy plaid. Really, a plaid blazer is such a good idea. When choosing a pair of tights to wear, I realized...

Rainy Day Uniform
I could call this my “rainy day uniform” or I could just admit that I had 2 minutes to decide what to wear this morning, and this was all I could think of. Anyway, Caroline continues to be precious. Whenever I’m outside and I don’t know where she is, I usually just have to look down to my feet.  sweater, wedges—Nordstrom dress, tights—Target ...

Nose-less
This poor bear is missing his nose. This bear has survived a Yorkie puppy, a Westie puppy, and an Old English Sheepdog while remaining (relatively) unscathed.  Truly, this child is out of control.  And yes, I realize I just referred to my dog as a “child.” Have a lovely Tuesday!

Horse Sense
Well, the horse scarf is back. I decided that it would be the perfect thing to pair with this outfit. I like the ’70s feel of this look. It’s rather like this (hilario) picture, isn’t it? I also like the fact that the dark blue and turquoise mostly clash. I feel like it works. blouse, scarf—somewhere in Germany dress, tights, shoes—Target ...

A Colorless Day
Well, after the rain cleared, I was hoping for a much warmer day. It was still pretty cool, and I had to wear a cardigan for most of the afternoon and evening. I took these pictures at what should have been just before sunset. The reason that they turned out so colorless is because the day was so colorless. I wasn’t sure of how to wear this dress with its drop waist and loose fit....

Welcome Back Winter, Once Again
“Tip of the Iceberg” by Owl City I’ve (basically) worn this outfit before, but I like the way that the pants and booties add a little something extra. As for the lipstick, I bought it thinking that it was going to be more on the purple side. It’s more pink than I expected, but I like the fact that it’s almost neon. So fun. Oh, and I...

Disneyland is Presented as Imaginary in Order to...
That’s what Baudrillard says, anyway. I’d tell Baudrillard to shove it, which isn’t something I tell people often (not out loud, at least). I’d also tell him that although his notion of simulacra has been useful to me in writing a few papers, he just doesn’t get LA, California, or the U.S. and to try to have some fun for once in his academic life.  ...

A Wish Your Heart Makes
Well, here are the pictures from Disneyland! I hadn’t been in about 4 years, so I was so excited to go! We had such a fun time (really, how can you not?). Anyway, this outfit was based on being comfortable in the park. The weather was in the 80s, and my purse was rather small, so I spent most of the day with my sweater tied around my waist—something I haven’t done probably...

Inversion, But Not the Way You're (Probably Not)...
I pulled this great jacket from my closet this morning. I haven’t worn it in years, partially because it’s a little too big. Once again, however, I’m starting to like the loose fit. I like the loose fit and tweed paired with a soft cat eye, thereby inverting the binary between masculinity and femininity. It’s a perfect thing to wear before the weather becomes warm. ...

Post-Disneyland Recuperation
I wore this outfit for organizing/getting my life together and going to Renaissance drama after getting home from LA. I bought the sweater out of necessity in Downtown Disney while waiting for “World of Color” to start. (FYI—“World of Color” = best thing ever). Just an easy outfit perfect for unpacking, catching up on schoolwork, going to class, and planning for...

It's Time You Knew the Truth
I really love this dress. I wore it to teach second graders who reminded me that I am tall. I come into the classroom, and they all say “She’s tall!” “She’s taller than my dad!” “You’re taller than my uncle!” “You’re taller than my family!” I didn’t know that it was possible to be taller than an entire family,...

Down the Street that Losers Use
I don’t know much about Johnny Cash (I only know “Ring of Fire,” and I only know it from this incident), but the ever-adorable Adam Young brought “Home of the Blues” to my attention with his dreamy cover. Ever since hearing it, it’s been going around and around in my head. Anyway, it rained like crazy the day I wore this outfit. I’m just happy that...

{Ducking for cover from the bees} This is such a fun and simple spring outfit with the cuffed pants and striped t-shirt. All of the oranges go together so well that I couldn’t help not pairing them—lipstick included.  shirt—Gap pants—T.J. Maxx shoes—Target lipstick—“Siren” by Revlon

Leaving
I’m off to Disneyland for the next few days! I have some outfits from last week that I’ll post throughout the week, and I can’t wait to share pictures once I get back. I’m looking forward to Southern California weather and plenty of Disneyland magic. This is how I feel exactly.

A Touch of Whimsy
I really love this sweater, but because it’s quite shapeless, I’d been having some trouble styling it. I think I kind of nailed it this time. I’m really pleased with how whimsical this outfit turned out. I love the military ruffle detail in the sweater and the polka dots and frills of the blouse combined with the floral skirt. Give whimsy a chance.  sweater,...
